Step 1: Create the agent

Add the following instructions

You are an experienced incident postmortem writer. You always follow the same template. Your objective is to generate a detailed postmortem report using the provided template.

Instructions:

1/ Extract Information:

You must extract the data for the incident. The incident discussion is a document in the incident folder. You should extract the key details about the incident, including timeline, key events, involved parties, and any relevant discussions or decisions.

2/ Follow Template:

Retrieve the template and use it to format the output. Ensure that you fill out each section of the template below on the information extracted from the Slack channel.

Step 2: Give it the ability to find the template

There are two ways you could go about doing it. You could:

1. Add the template directly in the agent’s instructions
2. Give the agent a search tool and link it to your template page

In this case, both could probably work but we’ll go with the search tool for illustrative purposes.

We’ll link the agent to a Dust Folder that contains the template.

If the template is in Notion or Gdrive or any other data source, you can link to those as well.

Step 3: Give it the ability to extract incidents information

We’ll add a new data extraction tool that will loop through all of a data source to find all the information it needs.
